My New PC 11 Years, 10 Months ago

Here's some hardware for you guys, my new PC!
These are the basic specs:
OS - MS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU – Intel Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM – 32GB RAM
GPU – AMD Radeon HD 7970
One cool thing about the case is that it has a very nice view inside. Gives new meaning to windows for PCs! I photographed this with the flash on to show it clearly. There are actually some blue LEDs in there. Under normal conditions a lovely blue light is cast over the hardware which makes it look like something that came from outer space!

Mate, awesome, you'll have some fun with it, as long as you treat it right, even though it may exceed your needs, go the heck ahead, we're all waiting for you to join our futuristic games... ; )

Thanks Jeliahz, I'll look after her.
While this PC will probably exceed most of my needs for a long time to come, I think it would take some sorta super computer to exceed my wants. Even on this beast, I've found that there are still a fair few real-time 3D polygon arcade games in MAME that perform quite poorly. That's OK though, because it turns out that most of the 3D versus fighters in MAME now run at 100%, which means we can try out many Hadouken-free fights.
I'll generally be a bit outta sorts for a while. There's so much stuff to setup properly again, eg. my home email is messed up; I can receive mail but it won't lemme send anything because of an SMTP server setting error which I haven't figured out how to fix yet. I'm looking at this - kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Issues_:_Cannot_Send_Mail - and thinking, oh man! Then there's still TeamSpeak, Skype, and a multitude of other profiles and programs to try and recover.
I'm gonna go out and buy StarCraft II to take my mind off things.

Yes, Atarix, if we can get SC2 to work between you guys in Europe and me in Australia then it will have been well worth the wait. The game is so fantastic that I played campaign missions for about 8 hours straight after installing.

Hehehe, cool. Before you will download the EU version, we will test first if we are able to play the Multiplayer together with differnt versions anyway (I am not sure, but maybe the different versions are just needed to play in the league).

On my Aussie copy of SC2 I can connect to Battle.net in South East Asia and the Americas. My understanding is that I would normally only be able to connect to people in those specific regions (as opposed to Brood War, where we can use the US as a stepping stone between Europe and Australia). But yeah, if we can't meet up that way then there's still the other option to try.

Good Morning Guys .
Neckshredder, you use Thunderbird as E-Mail-Programme? If you have already found the mistake?

Haha yeah, Jeliahz, time to get out the big guns!
Hello, Drake. Yes, Thunderbird email is OK now, thanks for asking. My brother is a computer wizard, so I got him to take a quick look at it for me. Apparently I put my display name in the username field instead of my actual username (there are slight differences between the names). D'oh!

I tested a spare EU account for SC2 with Jeliahz last night. It seems like Blizzard really mean it when they say they wanna protect the quality of the online experience from high latency games; they've got it sewn up tight. Even though I was logged in on the EU account for the tests, I was still detected as being in the SEA region. For example, when I attempted to log into the the EU battle.net website with the EU account details, I was then automatically redirected to the SEA battle.net site instead.

That means, that u could not download the game, because u could not get the right downloader, right?

No, I couldn't get the right downloader that way, but Jeliahz sent me one to try instead. Of course, it takes long to let that run so now we'll have to wait till next weekend to see how it goes.

Hmmm... no luck so far. I set the downloader to install into a separate folder from my original SC2, but after running it all night it waited until after the 7GB had finished downloading to tell me that it was no use because SC2 was already installed.
There must be a proper way to setup two different region accounts on one PC, since I've heard that one of the other NN guys has that. Until I know what the correct method is, I won't be in a hurry to try it again.

Global play? Ohhhh, that would resolve a lot of problems...

Thanks Jeliahz, official cross region support when Heart of the Swarm comes out sounds much better than what I tried to do the other day.

I never understood why they didnt activated global support when the game came out anyway as in SC1... However, lets hope that this will work out, then we can finally play!!! ^^
